A National Trust stretch of the River Wey Navigation, opened in 1653, where it passes Pyrford Lock and the Anchor pub. The Walsham length runs from here towards Send with RHS Wisley as a backdrop, and a 7-mile circular walk links the Wey with the Basingstoke Canal.

Highlights

  • Historic lock on one of the first English rivers made navigable
  • The Walsham length, one of the prettiest stretches, towards Send
  • 7-mile circular walk from New Haw Lock via Pyrford Lock and the Woodham flight on the Basingstoke Canal
  • Free National Trust guided walks along the Wey through the year

Good to know

  • Dogs are welcome on the towpath
  • The Anchor pub sits beside the lock
  • Watch for cyclists and moored boats on the towpath
